Press Release

The Banker magazine, owned by the Financial Times, has awarded Nordea "Bank of the Year 2010" in Denmark, Sweden and Norway. The "Bank of the Year" awards acknowledge banks for the best overall performance in their country.

- Solid results, strong customer development, a strong capital base and access to funding are some of the reasons why we decided to award Nordea with the title "Bank of the Year" in three of the Nordic countries, says Brian Caplen, Editor of the Banker.

The Banker's global editorial team chooses the winners based on an analysis of the latest results and performance data provided by the banks through questionnaires plus a review of their strategic developments and overall achievements.

The awards for 2010 were handed out during a ceremony in London on 2 December. More than 500 commercial banks competed for the awards. The Banker is the world's premier banking and finance magazine, and is read in 150 countries around the world.

- It's an honour for Nordea to be recognised as the best bank in Sweden, Denmark and Norway by The Banker. They have an independent view from London, and a thorough scrutiny of all banks in the various regions and countries, says Christian Clausen, Nordea's CEO.

This is the second year in a row in that Nordea wins the award "Bank of the year" in Denmark and Norway.
