SNS Reaal was one of the major financial bancassurance companies in the Netherlands. In February 2013 The Dutch government nationalised banking and insurance group SNS Reaal, the fourth-largest systemically important bank, at a cost of €3.7 billion. In May 2017 SNS Reaal was merged with De Volksbank under the name De Volksbank.
